Distinguishing Characteristics
CFU/g calculated using 10-4 dilution plate with 39 colony forming units). Colonies morphology is circular shaped with entire margin. The types of elevations present consisted of flat and raised. Size ranges from punctiform to moderate with a smooth texture and glistening appearance. Most of the colonies are nonpigmented (cream). A few of the plates had dark colonies, however, based on further isolation of the latter, it was determined that the dark pigmentation was likely cause by a chemical reaction when interacting with other bacteria. Also pictured is the soil collection site at the CSUS campus and the library plate with 15 isolated bacterial colonies on PDA media.
